The context
As part of the Ynov Master Expert Dev FullStack training, I was able to experiment in three days the creation of a wordpress site to make a proposal to the 'Les Écuries du Pouey' based near Pyrénée mountains. Eric and Stéphanie introduced us to their horse breeding by detailing the strong values that the site should put forward. This project has a strong ethic because the stable value horse welfare and proximity with their clients. We were several student group to showcase our websites. Another key point was the transdisciplinarity. We work with the whole value chain to produce a small showcase site: from marketing strategy to website design through UI/ UX approach. We are happy to promote the Pouey stables and their values.
What I learn :
- What I built:
- Wordpress setup and training of team members who didn't know the CMS.
- Creating a quick child theme to insert custom code in it
- The 'single' page of each horse presentation with the help of ACF fields and Custom Post Types
- I code two homemade Elementor widgets in the child theme for horse cards and filters (we can filled them with data from ACF fields).
- What I learned:
- Better adapt to a short time of adaptation on new tools (Elementor) or known (ACF....)
- Everything had to be done on a free basis with Elementor: the dependency on code becomes more important if used by Full Site Editing.
- Adapt client busy way of life: for example I choose ACF and Custom type solution to have only one point of entry for them to fill and no need to use elementor to create their horse page.
- Take customer feedback into account and be in line with their identity
